Saku Brewery has become a flagship of the Estonian beverage industry, playing a key role in the country’s life and progress over the past decades. The brewery is part of the international Carlsberg Group.
We interviewed Aigor Helm, the maintenance manager at Saku Brewery, who has been working there for the past five years. You might wonder—how does property management relate to brewing beer? The answer is simple: brewery buildings require maintenance and attention, just like any other commercial properties.
Aigor is responsible for the upkeep of buildings, fire safety, waste management, security services, and cleaning operations. We discussed with him how he discovered Hausing and what changed after its implementation.
Looking back five years, the workload has remained stable since the brewery complex cannot expand with additional buildings.
Before Hausing, all ongoing property management was handled through Excel. Information was exchanged in traditional ways:
The idea of changing the system arose because Excel became too large and complex. Finding necessary information required navigating multiple sheets and understanding how data was linked. Although only one person managed the Excel file, over time, it became more of a burden than an effective tool.
Aigor initially started searching for a better solution himself. He had to define his exact needs for the software and figure out how to integrate existing systems with a new platform.
"I was looking for something that would give me a comprehensive overview of maintenance tasks," Aigor explained.
He also considered that while an advanced Excel user could probably build a powerful system, in reality, most users wouldn’t do that.
Before discovering Hausing, he also explored other softwares like Scoro and Pipedrive, which he had previously used. This gave him the idea that something similar should be applied to property management.
After being introduced to Hausing, Aigor started testing the software independently, thinking about the best way to structure it.
The implementation of Hausing brought several positive changes to work organization:
Aigor enters many tasks into Hausing himself and also uses a dedicated maintenance email linked to the system. On average, a few maintenance tasks are added daily, totaling around 50-100 tasks per month. By now, all regular partners have learned how to use Hausing.
"Hausing saves me about an hour every day," estimated Aigor.
The onboarding process wasn’t difficult, as the software is straightforward. The Hausing team also helped with data imports, making the transition even smoother.
We also discussed that no software is ever truly "finished." What Aigor appreciates about Hausing is its continuous development, with many of his requested features already implemented.
When asked whether he is satisfied with Hausing, Aigor responded:
"If it wasn’t a product I liked or expected, I wouldn’t use it."
Previously reliant on Excel, Saku Brewery’s property management now enjoys better oversight, enhanced data security, and time savings thanks to Hausing. Tracking maintenance tasks has become easier, and employees have better access to necessary information.
The maintenance manager confirms that Hausing has brought practical and tangible improvements, saving at least an hour of valuable work time every day.
