"I'd certainly recommend Hausing to anybody who's serious about having an active overview of their work - a way of planning, and a way of monitoring what needs to be done." explained Tejasiddhi, Maintenance Manager, Windhorse Trust.

About Windhorse Trust
Windhorse Trust is a UK-based Buddhist charity that owns 13 and manages 15 properties across Cambridge, including the Cambridge Buddhist Centre, a Georgian house and theatre connected by a Victorian foyer in the heart of Cambridge. As a non-profit, every pound the trust earns is reinvested into maintaining its buildings, assisting tenants, or supporting new Buddhist centres.

Using Hausing since: 2024
Hausing modules in use: work order management, preventive maintenance
Previously used: Excel, emails, Word etc.
Tejasiddhi has spent more than a decade caring for properties within the Buddhist community. He spent five years looking after a single retreat centre in the south of England, using Word, Excel, and a database to keep track of conditions, schedules, and compliance.
Then he stepped into a new role: managing 15 properties at once.
The challenge: scaling from one building to fifteen
Managing one property with spreadsheets is doable. Managing fifteen is a different problem entirely.
"It would have been hard working off that," Tejasiddhi recalls of the trust's old system, a single shared spreadsheet his predecessor jokingly called "the Captain's Log," after Star Trek. "Things got missed. There was no real way of prioritizing."
The new role meant juggling:
Day-to-day repairs across multiple HMOs
Statutory compliance - five-year electrical tests, license renewals, certifications
Tenant communication across every site
A small team - just two people splitting the workload
Charity-tight budgets that demand careful planning of every scheduled work item
"For any kind of religious movement, you don't necessarily have much money, and you have to manage it very carefully," he explains.
Before he'd even started the new job, Tejasiddhi began looking for a software solution. He found Hausing.
What changed: one place instead of five
A year and a half in, Hausing has become central to how Windhorse Trust runs.
400+ work orders created
90-95% completion rate
15 properties managed by a 2-person team
The shift wasn't just about replacing one tool. It was about consolidating a workflow that had been spread across email, spreadsheets, Word docs, and side conversations.
"It's nice to have one thing rather than going to that spreadsheet, and that document, and that email," says Tejasiddhi. "We still have to deal with those things, but if you're looking in different places, there's always the potential for something to miss."
Three workflows that make the difference
1. Work orders contractors actually use
Some contractors resist new software. Others embrace it. Tejasiddhi's electrician falls firmly in the second camp, he uses Hausing's work order numbers as his invoice references.
That seemingly small detail eliminates a whole category of admin friction: matching invoices to tasks and chasing references.
2. Tenant communication
Communicating with tenants across multiple properties used to mean hunting through old email threads. Now it's a few clicks.
"Being able to communicate through the contacts tab to all the tenants at a property, those sorts of things have been really helpful."
3. Shared visibility for a two-person team
Tejasiddhi works alongside one colleague, and they treat Hausing as their shared source of truth.
"We have meetings and we'll allocate jobs within Hausing. It's really helpful to keep an eye on things for each other, talk about what's going on, plan the week ahead."
When he checks in each morning after email, he can see exactly what's open, what's coming, and what his colleague is working on, without a status meeting.
For Tejasiddhi, the reliability has been part of what makes the platform worth recommending: minimal downtime over 18 months, and a support team that has been responsive to issues.
Built to grow with the trust
Windhorse Trust is small today, but it's looking ahead. The trust may take on additional properties and Tejasiddhi sees Hausing as part of that path.
"It's nice to have something with that capability, rather than saying, 'Now we're taking on 20 more properties and Hausing can't deal with it, we need to go somewhere else.'"
For a charity where every pound has to count, finding a platform that scales without forcing a costly re-platform later isn't just convenient. It's strategic.
In Tejasiddhi's own words: "It's become very central to the way that we work. It's been essential, actually."
Could Hausing work for your team?
Hausing is purpose-built for different property managers - from charities and small operators with a handful of buildings to growing companies expanding their portfolios across borders.
If you'd like to see how Hausing could replace your version of the "Captain's Log," book a demo or try out Hausing for free.
In this article / TLDR
Windhorse Trust, a UK Buddhist charity, manages 15 properties with a 2-person team. After outgrowing spreadsheets, they switched to Hausing in 2024 and have since logged 400+ work orders with a 90–95% completion rate. The platform replaced a tangle of Excel, email, and Word docs with one shared system for work orders, tenant communication, and team coordination.
